Dr. K. Childs has once again shared “Changing the Language: Using Social Media and Popular Culture to Teach Traditional Literacy Skills” with another eager audience at the Bill Martin Jr Symposium, organized by the Curriculum and Instruction Department (College of Education and Human Services) at Texas A & M University-Commerce.
This session is dedicated to opening the minds of literacy educators to engage and embrace student experiences, popular culture, and technology usage that they bring into their classroom setting , and make an effort to bridge the gap between students’ formal/traditional literacy learning skills, and merging that content with real-world and relevant scenarios.
